Recession

Lately, all the economic news has been about how we are currently in, or soon entering, a recession. I saw an article on Cnn.com stating that due to the high unemployment and raising prices some people believe that we are already there. I, for one, do not think that you can base a “recession” on those stats. I am from a county that continuously has an above the national average unemployment rate, which never seems to decrease as prices increase. We never said to ourselves “Well I believe we are in a recession now” while I was growing up. It’s called part of life. The world goes through stages where prices get absolutely ridiculous but after a few years things settle down and everyone forgets about it. Then the next time that gas goes up everyone starts freaking out. The economy may be in a bad place right now but it’s could be a lot worse.

The Pursuit

I just finished watching The Pursuit of Happyness and, every time I watch that movie it makes me a little sad. Not sad in the sense of, oh that’s bad but, like “what if that happened to me.” Having a family, I think you always worry about what could happen. I don’t mean that you dwell on it but, at times you are lucky to be where you are. In the end it comes down to making sacrifices. They don’t have to be major, it can be something as simple as not going out to eat as much. You do what you have to for your family. I think that having Hai makes it tougher. There are tons of things that I would like to get her but as long as she has food to eat and a place to sleep well, I must not be doing too bad. I didn’t have the world handed to me as I got older I and I just want her to have an easier time at life than I did. You can’t have it all given to you but it’s nice to have a stepping stone.
