The Latest Epidemic Plaguing America

I have decided to post today about the latest epidemic that is sweeping the nation perhaps, the world.  This problem appears to widespread amongst people that are over the age of 18.  The Problem?

That’s right.  The problem is, people putting their clothes and metal into microwaves then, leaving them unattended.  I didn’t realize how big of an issue this was until I saw this sign posted in break room at work.   It appears that this problem may be more widespread that once feared.  It’s not really the people’s fault is it?  No, it’s our parents fault.  I remember as a child being told, “Don’t put anything in the microwave, it will explode.”  Never once did the issue of clothes come up.  I think that because we must have signs to warn people about this, that all parents should train their children at an early age to not do this.

Seeing this sign also brought up some other thoughts.  Who are these people that are putting clothing into the microwave and what is their thinking?  Obviously someone got caught in the act because why else would you think to put that on a sign, as a warning.  Or, maybe the person who made the sign had a bad experience one time with putting their sweater into the microwave.

I also find it humorous that we now have to have a large warning sign on the intended use of the machine.  The first line states, do not leave anything unattended while in the microwave.  I would think this would be common sense at work, not because of the fire hazard, but what if someone stole your Hot Pocket.

My only request is that, if you were about to use the microwave, and read this sign thinking, “Whoa, that was a close one I almost broke the rules” then please, have a friend help you out.

As an Englishman I’m not aware of this phenomenon hitting our shores, yet. That said, we have labels on jars of peanut butter that say “Warning: may contain nuts.” Who would we be to complain?

That is so funny! But, actually, my teenage boys would probably try that stuff just to see what happens! So, I believe it!
