Talent

So tonight I started a new book called Talent is Never Enough by John C Maxwell. So far it seems to be a pretty good book with some pretty interesting ideas. I have finished the first chapter and thought I would post my thoughts on it.

The first chapter is about belief. It states that if you don’t have belief in your talents then your talents will only take you so far. How many times have you not did something because you knew you were good at it but didn’t think you were good enough? The key points in the chapter are:

1. Believe in your Potential
2. Believe in Yourself
3. Believe in your Mission

There is a statement in the book that says, ” There are two kinds of people in this world: those who want to get things done and those who don’t want to make mistakes. ” This is referring to a story about the Wright brothers, and claims that a year before there was a man who built an airplane but was afraid to fly it because he was afraid that it wouldn’t work.

To sum up the point: If you have a talent, believe in it. Believe that it will allow you to do whatever you want to do.

“If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you’d like to win, but think you can’t
It’s almost certain you won’t…
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.”
